Shout outs to the latest Share Your Shutters winner: Chelsey Rushworth! Her winning submission to #ShareYourShutters features two rooms in her home decorated with stylish new Polywood faux wood plantation shutters that beautifully complement both her home’s style and her own unique fashion sense.
Chelsey, who goes by Taste of Coffey on Instagram, is a Boston-based interior designer who definitely has a unique eye for matching colors in her decorating. A quick look at her pictures shows how she intersperses both neutral and brighter tones for a look that’s cozy and natural, but fashionable all at the same time.
She even has a few pieces of advice for designers in Houston and around the country:
-
Always have a color scheme in mind. When you go about decorating a room, you’re always able to adjust colors to customize it. Try to utilize tones either from your interior color scheme or ones that can complement it.
-
Be fluid in your use of colors. We picked shutters that are vibrant white and most of our furniture includes shades of gray, both weathered wood and fabric. So we chose to mix in splashes of color and white accents.
Not only does Chelsey excel at using colors in her design, but her use of space in her design is on point, too. From the chairs she uses that lead the eyes right up to the wall and her plantation shutters, to her choice of shelving under the casement window, Chelsey’s house is stylish, practical, and altogether livable without ever seeming overwhelming.
As our contest winner for Fall, Chelsey will receive a gift card to a Boston-area restaurant, in addition to featuring her designs here. To see her entire body of work, take a look at her personal site at TasteofCoffey.com.
And if you think the shutters in your home look awesome enough to be our next winner, post a photo of them online with the hashtag #ShareYourShutters. Let’s get another Houston home featured as a winner!
